GMA breaks new grounds with innovative shows

MANILA, Philippines - Viewers can only expect better and more innovative programs from GMA Network as it unveils an interesting roster of new shows this September and October.

The Kapuso Network presents a pioneering line-up of primetime and afternoon prime soaps as well as a game show and human drama programs to forge an even stronger connection with the Filipino viewers.

First in the chronological list is the network’s human drama program Bingit. The program features a highly-emotional re-enactment of the chain of events leading to the actual accidents or life-threatening circumstances as told by the person involved. The program presents different stories of celebrities, popular personalities and ordinary individuals who have experienced near-death situations.

Using the elements of interview, dramatization, actual videos and photos, the program will magnify how one’s decision coupled with the power of the human spirit can overcome any life-threatening situation. Directed by Rico Gutierrez and Lem Lorca, Bingit is set to premiere today after Startalk.

Every Sunday beginning tomorrow, Sept. 22, prepare for suspenseful revelations as GMA presents its newest weekend series Dormitoryo. The series focuses on the search of a freshman Mass Communication student at Branwood College for answers on the mysterious death of another student in the same dormitory she’s staying at — the Holy Spirit Manor.

Under the helm of Jun Lana, Dormitoryo is topbilled by GMA’s teen stars Lauren Young, Joyce Ching, Winwyn Marquez, Ruru Madrid and Enzo Pineda. Completing the cast are Mayton Eugenio, Annicka Dolonius, Ashleigh Nordstrom and Mel Kimura.

Expected to win in viewership ratings is the newest drama series Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko. Set to begin on Sept. 23, Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko aims to inspire viewers to always have a positive outlook in life, and believe that with hard work and determination dreams can come true.

Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko marks the reunion of one of the industry’s formidable loveteams — Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal. Playing equally important roles in the series are Renz Fernandez and LJ Reyes. Joining the cast are Emilio Garcia, Maritoni Fernandez, Marco Alcaraz, Ping Medina, Jan Manual, Lian Paz, Debraliz, Vincent Magbanua and Carmi Martin. Under the direction of Dondon Santos, Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko is the first program shot in full HD using DLSR cameras.

Also beginning Sept. 23, another heartwarming love story will bring music to every viewer’s ears via the primetime series Kahit Nasaan Ka Man.

It tells the journey of two persons in fulfilling their ambitions despite poverty and disability. Throughout their journey, music will bring these two together and eventually, the two will develop feelings for each other. Will they keep on making beautiful music together or will they eventually break apart?

Directed by Gil Tejada Jr. and topbilled by Julie Anne San Jose and Kristoffer Martin, together with Eula Valdez, Michael de Mesa, Rio Locsin, Tessie Tomas, Rita Avila, Yayo Aguila, Vaness del Moral, Lucho Ayala and Ronaldo Valdez, join their musical journey this month after 24 Oras.

Another traditional family drama series will captivate the hearts of viewers as the newest afternoon series, Magkano Ba Ang Pag-Ibig, debuts on Sept. 30. Set in a rustic town, the story revolves around the struggle of a young lady in providing her family a good living despite unfavorable circumstances.

Highlighting the value of love and sacrifice, expect a battle of acting prowess from the powerhouse cast led by Heart Evangelista, Katrina Halili, Sid Lucero, Dominic Roco, Isabel Oli and Alessandra de Rossi. Completing the cast are Ana Capri, Luz Valdez, Pen Medina, Vangie Labalan, Shamaine Centenera and Celia Rodriguez. Magkano Ba Ang Pag-ibig? is directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes.

On Oct. 7, the network presents Genesis, an original and groundbreaking series that aims to change the landscape of primetime TV.

The drama, sci-fi and action series is topbilled by no less than Kapuso primetime king Dingdong Dantes. He portrays the role of Isaak Salvacion, a morally upright security detail of the Vice President of the Philippines (Robert Arevalo) whose daughter is played by Lorna Tolentino as Sandra Sebastian. Rhian Ramos joins the cast as Raquel, Dingdong’s childhood sweetheart.

Genesis is directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal and Mark Reyes. Playing equally vital roles are TJ Trinidad and Jackielou Blanco. Completing the cast are Betong Sumaya, Ronnie Henares, Carlo Gonzales, Luanne Dy, Rainier Gison, Anette Samin, Sasha Patrice Baldoza and Irma Adlawan.

Saturdays will be more fun and exciting as GMA Network introduces its newest local game show — Picture! Picture!. This program will make viewers appreciate learning in an all-new exciting way as five players will play for as much as half a million pesos by correctly and consecutively answering 13 picture-aided-questions with corresponding money values. Picture! Picture! is slated to begin on Oct. 26 after 24 Oras.
