Megan to do Singkil in Miss World finals

MANILA, Philippines -  After being chosen as one of the spokespersons and one of the Top 11 Beach Fashion finalists last week in Bali, Philippine bet Megan Young (leftmost) was again selected, this time to be part of the Dances of the World, the opening segment of Miss World 2013 coronation night on Sept. 28. This means a 30-second exposure each for Megan and the other 10 participating contestants.

‘We rehearsed for the Dances of the World. I’m proud to say that I was chosen to showcase my dance from the Philippines! I’ll be showcasing a dance called Singkil. I am very, very happy because I get to share this Filipino-Muslim dance to the world,’ Megan excitedly shared on her official Miss World Philippines Facebook page.

Trained by Carlos Buendia Jr., a Bayanihan dance troupe member, Megan will perform Singkil only with the fans, minus the bamboo poles, in full Muslim princess regalia.

Meanwhile, a press conference was held on Monday morning, Sept. 16, to discuss the final venue of the coronation night, after it was announced by government officials that the pageant would be held solely in Bali. Sale of online tickets for the Top Model fashion show, Grand Finals and Coronation Ball, all originally scheduled to be held in Jakarta, was stopped temporarily.
