Rayver on Cristine-Derek relationship: ‘Walang kaso sa akin’

MANILA, Philippines - Rayver Cruz approves of Cristine Reyes’ relationship with actor Derek Ramsay.

In an interview with members of the press during the launch of “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” the Kapamilya actor said he believes Derek can take care of his ex-girlfriend Cristine.

“If ever man na mag-end up sila together, bakit naman hindi? Derek is a decent guy. Mabait siyang tao. Alam kong maaalagaan niya si Cristine,” Rayver said on Wednesday, August 28.

The 24-year-old actor understands how Cristine ended up with Derek; the entertainment industry, after all, is small, he said.

“Kahit naman ako, mahirap din pigilin if magkagusto ako sa isang tao na past pala ng kaibigan ko,” Rayver said.

He added, “Basta wala lang nasasagasaan o tinatapakan.”

Rayver and Cristine confirmed their split early this year.

First choice

Rayver is part of the Gerald Anderson and Cristine Reyes-starrer “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” which will premiere on Monday, September 2. When the project was reported last year, it was rumored that Cristine requested  Rayver to be part of the show.

However, the actor said that as far as he’s concerned, he is the first choice for the role.

“Ang sabi talaga sa akin is first choice talaga ako. Natuwa nga si Ge na ako yung nilagay sa role. Yun ang alam ko talaga. Hindi nama yun ni-request ni Cristine o ni Gerald,” he said.

Rayver added he expected the issue since he is Gerald’s best friend and was Cristine’s boyfriend when he was cast.

Since his breakup was mutual, the Kapamilya actor said he didn’t find working with Cristine awkward.

“Siguro kasi, walang third party and mutual naman yung decision na alam natin na hindi na magwo-work. Kailangan i-set na natin yung mga priorities natin sa buhay,” he explained.

Still single

And while Cristine is already in a relationship, Rayver said he’s still single.

It was reported that he is seeing model-TV host Imee Hart. But Rayver said he has not talked to her in a while.

“Right now, I’m going out with friends. Hindi particularly dating. I cannot say I’m dating kasi hindi pa talaga. Hindi pa rin ako sa phase na ready for commitment,” he said.

Rayver added, “Nage-enjoy ako na single ako, natutuloy yung blessings at nakaka-focus ako sa trabaho ko, sa craft ko.”
