Star Records launches Perkins Twins, Angelos

MANILA, Philippines - Star Records recently launched two new vocal boy groups under its label: The Fil-Am tennis heartthrobs-turned-pop duo, Perkins Twins (below) and the classical-pop tenor trio, The Angelos (left).

Perkins Twins — composed of fraternal twins Jesse and Christian Perkins — is the voice behind the theme song of Boy Abunda’s Ikaw Na segment on ABS-CBN’s late night newscast Bandila.

The duo shared that its upcoming debut album under Star Records includes a mix of English and Filipino songs, some of which were composed by the twins, while their digitally released most requested hit single Ikaw Na was composed by veteran songwriter Vehnee Saturno.

When asked about their dream collaborations, the Perkins twins have their top choices. “We would love to work with talented sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga and the Philippines’ biggest female Pop Star, Sarah Geronimo.”

Meanwhile, The Angelos, composed of George Tagle, Paolo Libiran and Louie Abaigar, are ready to reintroduce themselves not as a hardcore classical group but a dynamic trio that can turn popular hits into all-time classics.

“We want to educate listeners that classical music need not to be intimidating,” said The Angelos. “We fuse favorite pop melodies and give them music that is something new and pleasing to their ears.”

The Angelos would like to collaborate with Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievara, Jed Madela and Bamboo.

The Angelos’ recently released album under Star Records carries eight tracks with one original composition titled The Calling. It also features classical-pop revivals of The Prayer, Lipad ng Pangarap, Paano Kita Pasasalamatan, Ano’ng Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa and Always You.

The digital tracks of Perkins Twins and The Angelos can be downloaded via iTunes, Amazon.com and MyMusicStore.com.ph.
