Now that Cristina Gonzalez-Romualdez (who will forever be Kring-Kring to her fans) is into her third and last term as councilor of Tacloban City (where her husband, Alfred Romualdez, has just been reelected mayor), will she finally say yes to an offer to do a soap? You know, if the likes of Dawn Zulueta can shuttle between Manila and Davao (where her husband, Anton Lagdameo, was reelected congressman) to shoot, why can’t Kring-Kring?
“I’d love to,†Kring-Kring told Funfare when she and Alfred were in Manila over the weekend to treat their daughters Sophia and Diana to a mall stroll (with a visit to their dentist) before school opened yesterday. “But the problem is time constraint. I can’t be flying back and forth between Tacloban and Manila.â€
Now even more Waray than Taclobanons and Samareños, Kring-Kring speaks the dialect so fluently that it’s as if she was to the tongue born. That’s how deeply she has adapted herself to not just her second home but her real home.
“I have so many tasks to attend to,†said Kring-Kring who, aside from being a topnotch councilor, is also the city’s First Lady. “There are my daughters and my duties as councilor.â€
One of Kring-Kring’s pet projects is providing love and care for battered women (in association with the reelected Pangasinan Rep. Gina de Venecia’s similar project).
Asked what her plan is in 2016 when her third term as councilor is over (aim for a higher position?), Kring-Kring simply smiled.
Anyway, if and when she does find time to do a soap, Kring-Kring is perfect for the role as mother or aunt of Gwen Zamora who, according to Funfare’s Waray sources, is the girlfriend of Kring-Kring’s stepson Raymund (Alfred’s son from a previous relationship). They look alike (both flawless), don’t they?

2012 Manhunt winner keen on joining showbiz
When his reign as 2012 Manhunt International ends in October, June Macasaet hopes to venture into showbiz.
“That’s part of my agenda,†said June. “Childhood dream ko ‘yon. If ever, I want to do action-comedy, ‘yung parang mga role ni Robin Padilla noon.â€
When June turned a year younger last June 8, he spent the day with the residents of Golden Acres — Haven for the Aged in Tanay, Rizal, instead of hosting a lavish party.
“It has been my plan even before I won Manhunt Int’l,†said June. “Laki kasi ako sa lola ko and I miss her so much. She died in my arms due to lung cancer. Now that I have the means, I made it a point to pay tribute to her by giving little gifts and entertainment to the elderly at Golden Acres.â€
Indeed, June is a big man with a golden heart.
