MANILA, Philippines - Legendary hard-rock band Aerosmith recently rocked the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena as bridging together generations of music lovers with their unique sound.
The concert was the 43-year-old band’s first Southeast Asian show in history, and the audience couldn’t simply have enough as the Aerosmith guys performed 19 of their hit songs like Jaded, Crying, Dude (Looks Like a Lady), Livin’ on the Edge, Janie’s Got a Gun and I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing from the movie Armageddon which starred Steven Tyler’s daughter, Liv.
Front man Steven Tyler performed Dream On in his signature raspy voice while playing a white grand piano and after, atop of it; his quirky ’70s dance thrusts, his silver bell-bottom pants, and colorful scarves a testament to his spectacular showmanship. Guitarist Joe Perry, drummer Joey Kramer, rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist David Hull and percussionist Jesse Sky Kramer, on the other hand, showed why Aerosmith is one of the world’s most enduring bands. Formed in Massachusetts in 1970, it has won several accolades worldwide, and is deemed as the “best-selling American rock band of all time.â€
The MOA Arena concert was to promote the band’s new album Music from Another Dimension! which was released last November, 2012. Rivermaya hyped up the crowd with its hits as front act.
And it’s not surprising that some of the country’s top rockers like Journey’s Arnel Pineda, former Bamboo guitarist Ira Cruz, Razorback members, female rocker Lou Bonnevie, Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon and NU 107 co-founder Atom Henares were seen enjoying the concert.
Steven is the third American Idol judge to perform at MOA after Nicki Minaj last July, 2012 and Jennifer Lopez last November, 2012.
The MOA Arena is a multi-purpose venue that can accommodate a seating capacity of 15,000 with a full-house capacity of 20,000. Designed for concerts and basketball games, it can also be configured for boxing, theater, fashion, ice-skating and clubbing shows.
Upcoming MOA Arena events include Miss Philippines Earth Grand Coronation Night on May 19 and the One Fighting Championship (FC) with Filipino champions Honorario Banario and Eduard Folayang, and Brazilian victor Bibiano Fernandes on May 31.
