The musical event will bring back the multi-talented American artist to the concert scene nearly two years after his smash Manila debut on Oct. 30, 2011, also at the Big Dome, during which he enthralled thousands of fans when he performed in an unforgettable acoustic evening with percussionist Toca Rivera as part of an international tour.
Acclaimed as one of the modern era’s most gifted pop artists, Mraz has taken his phenomenal musical journeys from coffee houses to concert stadiums around the world, garnering two Grammy Awards and six Grammy Awards nominations during his brief but successful career in music and entertainment.
His latest album, Love Is A Four Letter Word, released in 2012, debuted at the Top 15 in 13 countries, including No. 2 in the US, with the first single, I Won’t Give Up, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart one week after its release.
Love Is A Four Letter Word has already sold nine million singles and one million albums, while I Won’t Give Up has been certified Triple Platinum in the US.
Mraz’s previous studio album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things (2009), became a huge commercial success worldwide, earning multiple platinum certifications in numerous territories across the globe.
The singer’s international breakthrough came with the release of the lead single from the album, titled I’m Yours, which turned into a No. 1 smash and gave Mraz his first Top 10 single. It was a monstrous top-seller in the US, receiving a Triple Platinum certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales of over three million.
It also won ASCAP’s (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) 2010 Song of the Year award and set the record for the longest-running single (76 weeks) in the 51-year history of Billboard’s Hot 100.
The song and its singer were nominated for Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance honors at the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009.
On the same year, the album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things, also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Mraz triumphed during the 52nd Grammy Awards in 2010 with two Grammy Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for Make It Mine and Lucky, respectively.
Other honors he received include the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame (2009), nomination for the Teen Choice Award for Best Love Song for the song, I Won’t Give Up (2012) and the People’s Choice Award for Pop Male Artist for the single, Himself (2013).
As a staunch advocate and supporter of a clean environment, sustainable energy, education and human equality, Mraz was recognized by the Environmental Media in 2009 with the Missions in Music Award and was invited to join former US Vice President Al Gore in the Climate Reality Fact-Finding Expedition to Antarctica in January, 2012.
