MANILA, Philippines - So long year of the dragon, see you again after 12 years. The Chinese New Year has come once again. This year, let’s welcome the year of the snake. What does it hold for all us? Will it be better? Of course, we all hope for good luck to come. As part of the celebration, here are some movies that might just be timely to watch. Gong Xi Fa Chai!
Anaconda. A film crew is kidnapped by a hunter, who’s searching for the world’s largest Anaconda. Together, they journey to the rainforest not knowing that what they are about to face is a deadly creature no one would dare look for. After the success of this film, three sequels followed. Viewers sure loved the snakes!
Snakes On A Plane. What will happen to a passenger plane filled with venomous snakes on the loose? A man is about to testify against someone big. To stop this from happening, snakes are time released on the plane so that it will land somewhere but not the destination where the trial takes place. This film takes viewers on a thrilling ride with the snakes.
Python. When a genetically engineered snake is on the loose, there’s nothing to expect but death and chaos. Its creator and a military team are out to hunt the creature but it seems like it’s not that easy. This abnormally huge creature is serious about being free and hunting food.
Rattled. What happens when a construction project unknowingly disturbs some Rattlesnakes? They will be out on the loose looking for some food — that means living things including humans. This town is surely rattled. Will they ever survive the attack?
New Alcatraz (Boa). Due to the construction of an underground prison, a prehistoric Boa Constrictor is awakened from its sleep. Now, what is one to expect from this? Naturally, the creature hunts and eats whatever it can. As the remaining survivors try to save themselves, the creature just continues to hunt.
Rango. When family pet Rango, a chameleon, accidentally lands in a lawless town named Dirt, he is looked upon as the savior of the town. Not knowing how to do this, as he is just a family pet who blends in, he starts to get nervous and confused about the town inhabitants’ expectations. Will he be able to effectively take the role as a sheriff?
Tremors. There is something under the ground; it’s big and it’s alive. When a series of unexplainable deaths occur in an isolated desert town, two men, together with the help of other survivors, try to find and kill what’s attacking them. With no help from the outside world, they need to fight for survival.
Godzilla. Who wouldn’t know Godzilla? This original Japanese character was once very popular. Its first appearance was in 1954, then what comes next are TV series, comics, novels, video games and more movies. No matter how unreal it looks or how impossible the storyline is, Godzilla is just almost always a hit.
Komodo. Imagine, an island full of deadly Komodo Dragons. Would you dare go? Well, a boy needs to go back in order to come to terms with his traumatic experience after his family was attacked by Komodo Dragons. Clueless about the serious danger awaiting them, the boy, together with the others, go to the island.
Boa VS Python. As the title says it, this film is about two mega-sized snakes fighting. It seems crazy but for entertainment, some viewers do enjoy this kind of film. Which snake will win? Better just watch the film and find out.
