MANILA, Philippines - Character actor Manu Respall gets his biggest break so far by playing Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, the first Philippine president in the film Supremo, with Alfred Vargas in the title role as Andres Bonifacio.
Portraying someone who played a pivotal role in Bonifacio’s life and the country’s history excites Manu no end.
“I’m so honored,†Manu says. “The dialogues are not that much but I convey my emotions through my eyes.â€
The sight of Manu as Aguinaldo turning his head slowly and scanning the horizon in the film’s full trailer shows how much he can express emotions without saying a single word.
“My confrontation scene with Alfred was also quiet,†recalls Manu. “We just stared at each other’s eyes.â€
The film’s director, Richard Somes, who handpicked Manu for the role, is happy with his performance.
Supremo is now showing in SM cinemas.
