MANILA, Philippines - Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola will tickle moviegoers’ funny bones once again via their latest big-screen starrer, D’ Kilabots Pogi Brothers…Weh!?, opening in theaters tomorrow, Nov. 28.
The screen comics promise to double the fun and laughter in this fitting follow-up to Scaregivers.
The Jose-Wally tandem is undoubtedly today’s hottest, hot enough for APT Entertainment and M-ZET TV Production, Inc. to bankroll project for them as pre-Christmas treat for Pinoy fans.
No other duo in current showbiz history has their unique knack to turn simple punch lines into hilarious moments. Jose and Wally are regularly seen in their daily Eat, Bulaga! segment, Juan for All, All for Juan! Bayanihan of the Pipol!.
Naturally, Jose and Wally are overwhelmed by the support they get from their followers.
“We are happy that people patronize local movies. Before, only those entries from Metro Manila Film Festival truly turned into big hits. Given the situation in the local movie industry, we are positive that our movie will pick up,†said Jose.
“It’s a delightful feeling that we are supported by APT and M-Zet productions. On our part, we are thanking them for their trust. And we will oblige whatever they want us to do, aba, go lang nang go!†Wally countered.
In the movie, Jose and Wally play warring brothers Justine and Bruno Kilabot, respectively. Their common love interest? Pokwang, Justine’s apple of the eye, who ends up marrying Bruno (Wally) instead.
Broken-hearted, Justine becomes a woman-hater even when the beauteous balikbayan character played by Solenn Heussaff falls madly in love with him.
He, however, gives in to the latter’s advances but only after giving her a difficult time.
The brothers themselves eventually kiss and make-up to protect their property against shrewd businessmen. One of the film’s highlights is the Sto. Niño procession, where a lot of action and riotous situation take place.
Also in the cast are Paolo Ballesteros, Gina Pareño, Jimmy Santos and Tirso Cruz III.
The movie is under the direction of Soxie Topacio, who was behind the award-winning comedy film, Ded na si Lolo.
