MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya, primetime newscast TV Patrol and AM radio station DZMM were the only Philippine entries named as finalists in the prestigious Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2012 including Jury Prize categories for both radio and TV.
Out of 166 TV and 76 radio entries from 18 countries and 25 organizations, ABS-CBN bagged finalist spots in five different categories and is the sole representative of the country in the prestigious award giving body that promotes excellence in broadcasting.
Maalaala Mo Kaya episode titled T-Shirt is competing with entries from Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia and Sri Lanka for the Television Special Jury Prize category while DZMM’s Silveradyo Station ID is pitted against entries from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam and Bhutan for the Radio Special Jury Prize category.
DZMM scored another finalist spot in the Radio Jingles/Promos/Station ID’s category also for its Silveradyo Station ID and another one in the Radio News Reporting category for the coverage of Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Dose on Typhoon Pedring.
Meanwhile, TV Patrol’s coverage of Typhoon Sendong was also named finalist in the Television News Reporting category.
Winners will be revealed during the awarding ceremony to be held on Oct. 16 during the union’s general assembly in Seoul, South Korea.
