MANILA, Philippines - Celebrities are into finding advocacies and supporting various causes as their way of giving back to others and sharing their blessings. Robin Padilla also has his own advocacy and he chose something close to his heart — helping Filipino workers.
Living up to his moniker Idol ng Masa, Robin is known for being passionate about Pinoy workers. Although he has been one of the country’s top action stars for several years, he sympathizes with them as they remind him of the days when he was just like them — an ordinary employee who works hard to earn a living. He has even made his advocacy evident in his latest commercial with 555 Tuna.
“Sometimes when you’re famous, you tend to forget your neighbors who are in need and those people whom you should be thankful for. This is one thing I won’t do. As you know, Filipino workers are really close to my heart and I really look up to them. That’s why if it had been up to me, I want to give each and every one of them an award for all their hard work,” Robin shared during the recently-concluded 555 Tuna’s Parangal sa Katawang Palaban.
The award-giving program was conceptualized and initiated by Robin and 555 Tuna. He personally congratulated five outstanding Filipino workers for their exemplary hard work and dedication to their jobs.
Collectively known as Palaban 5, the awardees were Lilia Miniano, Margarito Reyes, Juanita Dagumay, Adrian Cobardo and Joel Navarez have jobs that require them to be physically strong and healthy.
Through his 555 Tuna commercial and the Parangal sa Katawang Palaban, Robin hopes he could reach out to more Pinoy workers and encourage them to continue doing their best in their daily endeavors.
