MANILA, Philippines - There’s a fresh crisp breeze amid the summer heat amongst us this month. It’s that time of the year once again to enjoy the great outdoors and bask in nature’s beauty. And what better way to enjoy the summer season and the beauty of Mother Nature than at Nuvali, the country’s first sustainable eco-city. That is why last April 21 and 22, Nuvali once again gave everyone all the reason to love and appreciate Mother Nature with the celebration of Earth Day, highlighted by the

Green Freedom Concert

, at Nuvali Sta. Rosa Laguna.

Stars and eco-lovers gathered at the Evoliving Center Dockside last April 21 for a night filled with music, which was hosted by Angel Jacob and featured performances by Mel Villena and band, Brigada, Juris, Zia Quizon, Jed Madela, Kyla and Christian Bautista.

Aside from the concert, eco-lovers also enjoyed the Green Market which was held at the Solenad 1 Activity Center. Eco-vendors gathered for an organic food and eco-product extravaganza to promote locally-produced items from decorative items, organic fresh produce to community-made products. Also, visitors of the Green Market were treated to an array of activities where they could participate and join, such as lectures on vertical gardening with the gardening and tree-planting 101 by Greens & Patches; bird-watching lessons by the Wild Bird Club — wherein participants can use their skills at Nuvali’s Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary; boat-making lessons using recycled Tetra Pak cartons; and demos on healthy and organic cooking. Other activities at the Green Market included mini bird walks, a climate clinic and a freedom wall where visitors can write whatever they like for Mother Nature.

Alongside the Green Market, Nuvali also hosted a recyclables fair at the Transport Terminal to help spread the message on recycling.

Top cap of the activities for the two-day celebration, a fun run and bike race titled Silakbo was also held last April 22 for the benefit of the Save Silang-Sta. Rosa River Foundation, Inc. The running and biking event was the first activity held for the benefit of the foundation. While Nuvali had also announced its support to Calamba’s environmental programs such as river clean-ups, reforestation program and awareness campaign to its nearby communities.

There will be more outdoor and sports activities to enjoy with the Nuvali Sports Camp which runs until October. Start an active lifestyle and learn from the best with the Football Clinic at the Football Fields 1 to 3 by the Philippine Azkals’ Chiefy Caligdong, Baseball Clinics by Pureplay and Tri (Triathlon) clinics by the Trimac Team.
