MANILA, Philippines - Lady Gaga (photo) is set to conquer millions of Pinoy fans for the second time in almost three years when she returns for a grand concert on May 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The one-night-only gig is part of The Born This Way Ball, the brand-new tour of the five-time Grammy Award winner that is scheduled to kick off on April 27 in Seoul, South Korea, to be followed by shows in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Manila.
The 13-city, 33-date tour, produced internationally by Live Nation and to be mounted locally by Ovation Productions, will also cover Bangkok, Singapore and Jakarta in Asia before proceeding to Auckland, New Zealand and to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in Australia.
Expected to be this summer’s biggest entertainment event featuring a foreign act, the concert presents one of the world’s hottest female pop idols as she performs in her unique and distinctive singing and theatrical act songs from her latest album, Born This Way, as well as selections from her first two hit albums, The Fame and The Fame Monster.
The Born This Way Ball immediately follows Lady Gaga’s last tour, The Monster Ball, which captivated hundreds of millions of fans worldwide and was critically-acclaimed with rave reviews in the cities where it was held.
It will be the pop singer’s first major tour since the release in May, 2011 of Born This Way, which has sold nearly six million copies throughout the world.
The recording is the follow up to her back-to-back Grammy Award-winning albums, The Fame Monster (2009) and The Fame (2008), which have global sales of 15 million copies.
The Born This Way Ball marks Lady Gaga’s second visit to Manila 34 months since her sold-out concert on Aug. 11, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum, also produced by Ovation Productions.
