MANILA, Philippines - Summer has just begun and things are going to get a little hotter on BTV. Two words: March madness. Yes, we’ve finally arrived at the Big Dance where the best collegiate basketball squads will battle it out in a gruesome competition of pride and glory to come out as the nation’s top basketball team.
Each fan will become a college basketball expert, filling up brackets and making picks as to who marches on through each stage of the tournament. Spectators will churn out their inner Dick Vitale, ready to blurt out, “Awesome Baby!”
Just as thrilling as drinking beer on a white sandy beach, NCAA March Madness is the most exciting time for college hoops. It’s a time where school rivalries are renewed and future NBA stars are made.
Luckily, BTV will televise all the action from the opening tip of the tournament’s first game up until the last sounding buzzer of the championship game. Much of the coverage will focus on teams that will advance through the single elimination competition to the Sweet Sixteen, the Elite Eight, and onto the much-anticipated Final Four.
A lot of special attention will be directed towards Anthony Davis of Kentucky and Thomas Robinson of Kansas, both of which will most likely be top picks in the upcoming NBA draft. Experts say that Kentucky and Syracuse are frontrunners to win the crown but this year’s tournament features a wide-open field of at least six teams that could legitimately win the national title.
There will be nail-biters and buzzer-beaters. There will be upsets and heartbreaks. Most of all, there will be a lot of great basketball.
So whether you’re a college hoops fan or a clueless pug who just wants to get wrapped up in all the “madness,” the 2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament promises to be one of the most exciting in recent years.
