Sen. Lito Lapid is in the news these days. His wife got involved in the “dollar imbroglio” at the Las Vegas airport. His taking the podium the other day as senator-judge in the Corona impeachment had people reacting with both glee and disdain to his question about the difference between a loan and cash advance.
And now the “gentleman from Pampanga” will star in the new teleserye, Leon Guerrero, soon to start on ABS-CBN. It’s been a while since the Senator was seen on TV or in a movie. His last was in 2006 with Tatlong Baraha.
Lito is popular for depicting horse-riding heroes like Geronimo and Leon Guerrero, the main characters in box-office movies he did in the ’80s. Leon Guerrero was filmed twice by Lito with Ang Alamat ni Leon Guerrero and Ang Pagbabalik ni Leon Guerrero. A known horseman, Lito did his own stunts as the lone ranger in these movies.
One of the most sought-after leading men during his time, Lito starred in a movie with Superstar Nora Aunor in Kastilyong Buhangin. And who can forget him as Ben Tumbling?
In his new outing in Leon Guerrero, Lito will play a “kutsero.” He said, “Isang karangalan para maging Kapamilya ako dito. May tiwala naman ako dito at saka gustong gusto ko talaga. Medyo tumatanda na tayo baka nakakalimutan na tayo ng tao. At binigyan ako ng isang role na nakikita nila siguro bagay nga ako dito. Dahil may kabayo kasi eto.”
Lapid is truly at home in showbiz where his shyness is tantamount to mystique and star appeal. So unlike in the Senate where his silence and shyness are viewed as being inept.
Welcome home, Leon Guerrero!
KC supports sisters’ showbiz careers
More of the Concepcion sisters in showbiz: KC Concepcion’s younger sisters Garie Concepcion and Cloie Syquia-Skarne are following in their Ate KC’s footsteps. Garie has her singing career and a self-titled album, while Cloie has signed up with Viva for a career in modeling.
The sisters are getting to know each other really well. Some weeks ago, they were spotted watching the Katy Perry concert. “I guess ‘yon ang gusto ni God na mangyari na maging close ako sa family ko, sa mga kapatid ko. It is time to look for a new inspiration. It is my first time that I am finding inspiration with my sisters,” said KC.
Now that her sisters are into showbiz, KC is giving her all-out support. “I am hoping for the best. I want to see my sisters succeed in anything they do. Katulad ko, nag-e-explore ako ngayon. Medyo nakikita ko kung saang direction papunta ang buhay ko. So, sa kanila din, masaya sila kung ano man ang gusto nilang gawin.”
We are watching KC’s exciting explorations with fondness.

Joey Marquez joins new talk show
Joey Marquez is also back to being a Kapamilya. He will be part of the new talk show Showbiz Inside Report with Janice de Belen, Carmina Villarroel and Ogie Diaz, which premieres today. His children, Winwyn and Yeoj, by Alma Moreno are proud of their father.
“Sa dami naming anak niya, he never fails to give attention to everyone. Iba-iba kami pero nakukuha niya ‘yong kiliti namin. Saka napagsasama niya kami which is unusual di ba? And dad has always been there,” said Winwyn.
“Daddy is a very responsible father because he takes time to call us every day, kung hangga’t maaari nga every hour siyang tumatawag. Close kami ni daddy. Very open (with each other),” said Yeoj.
Yeoj also said that his father is humorous and intelligent. “Yong sobrang talino ni daddy, yon ang hinahangan ko sa kanya.”
“Bilang isang lalaki ang galing niya magsalita. Yong paninindigan niya kung ano ang sasabihin niya, gagawin niya, at may point siya lagi,” enthused Winwyn.
They are open to their dad having a girlfriend. But no marriage, please. “’Pag girlfriend okay lang sa amin. Wag lang siya magpapakasal. Andito naman kami para sa kanya,” said Winwyn.
I’m sure Joey is listening.
John Lloyd on casual relationships
What does John Lloyd Cruz think of casual relationships and one-night stands?
John Lloyd, who stars in Star Cinema’s Unofficially Yours with Angel Locsin, said, “Kanya-kanya kasi yan eh, kaya depende sa tao kung anong set-up ang gusto niya. Basta ako naniniwala na ang lahat ng tao may pinanggagalingan, lahat yan may dahilan kung bakit yan ang pinipili nila at may dahilan ka din kung bakit mo gustong piliin yung kabaligtaran. It’s a very complex issue and it’s very subjective basta ako kanya-kanya tayo, choice niyo yan and kung anuman ang pinili niyo kailangan niyong protektahan o panindigan or alagaan. Masyadong malawak yung konsepto ng casual relationships.”
And as to his relationship with Shaina Magdayao, Lloydie said, “It is better than ever!”
