Rachelle Ann Go ended 2011 triumphant. Her stint as Ariel in Disney’s Little Mermaid was peppered with nightly standing ovations and rave reviews. It was a heady time and she basked in the glory for weeks dreaming of the other roles in stage musicals she might be able to do and hopefully more standing ovations and rave reviews.
But then reality dictates that she wakes up from the dream and think of what to do next for her career. This is not easy to do. There is always the temptation to take things easy. You know just go along with the routine birits required by her weekly show Party Pilipinas and to sing those fierce R&B hits from abroad in her live performances. But lucky girl Rachelle Ann again landed a gem of a gig.
Rachelle Ann has been tapped to join Basil Valdez and The CompanY in Seasons of Love, a Valentine concert that will be held at the Newport Theater of Resorts World Manila on Feb. 13. This is no ordinary show. This means she has reached a high new level as a performer. All of the training she got while preparing for her stint in Disney’s Little Mermaid will be put to a test. After all, it is no joke performing with the country’s foremost balladeer and the leading vocal group. Here is a show where the musicality of the performers is of a very high order.
I expect Rachelle Ann to pull through with flying colors. This girl has never shirked from a challenge and something like this will surely push her to do her best. This early I can already hear how her voice will soar when she does her duets with Basil and The CompanY, how much better and more heartfelt her hits like Don’t Cry Out Loud will sound and how Part of Your World, from Little Mermaid, which has in a way become her signature song will be even more beautiful.
Basil, who is once more hot in the charts thanks to his latest album, Basil S. Valdez, will be doing his standards like Nais Ko, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan, Paraisong Parisukat plus some contemporary classics included in his new CD like Ikaw, Ikaw Na Nga and his amazing duet of Pagdating Ng Panahon with The CompanY.
As for The CompanY, the country’s leading vocal group will also be singing its hits, Now That I Have You, Everlasting Love, Pakisabi Na Lang, Muntik Na Kitang Minahal and fans hope also some tracks from its big-selling Lighthearted series, Marry You, Thinking Of You, California King Bed, Rolling In The Deep, Empire State Of Mind and others.
Take my word for it, Seasons of Love will be a show of beautiful love songs and superb singing. You know the sort of artists performing and their type of songs. They are the kind who gets standing ovations and rave reviews regularly.
Tickets to the Seasons of Love are now available at Resorts World Manila and at TicketWorld 891-9999. Ticket prices are: P4000, VIP; P4,000, Premiere Left/ Right; P3,500, DeLuxe Left/ Right; and P3,000, Balcony Center/Left/ Right and Upper Balcony.
Incidentally, Rico J. Puno, another great balladeer with lots of original hit songs will follow Basil, Rachelle and The CompanY at Newport in RWM. He stars in The Best of Rico J. Puno, A Valentine Concert which will be held on Feb. 14. Expect lots of soulful sounds with The Way We Were, Kapalaran, Damdamin, Together Forever and his trademark jokes. Rico Baby will have as guests the sexy Hot Babe Katya Santos and the lovely Vamp, Verni Varga.
Also about beautiful music, here is something I found, a quote about music from the Greek philosopher Plato. “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” Unbelievable that he said it better than anybody else and he did it thousands of years ago.
