Curtain-raisers:
• Could it be true that a VIP (Very Important Personality) is giving a pretty newcomer a royal treatment on the set of the soap where she’s not even the lead actress? The enamored gentleman provides the apple of his eyes with a tent on the set and other amenities (including a bodyguard?). Lucky girl? Oh well, maybe she should enjoy it while it lasts… or until the gentleman’s wife gets wind of it.
• A controversy is brewing in far Canada between a singer and the lady host of a TV show. The singer is accusing the host of being a copycat because she feels that the host’s new show is very similar to that of her show which is purely entertainment. So far, the word war is limited to Twitter exchange. If cooler heads don’t intervene, things could explode, with the reverberation heard ‘round the world.
• For her New Year’s resolution, Kris Aquino (photo) is determined to follow Dr. Vicki Belo’s advice to run 30 miles per week which is, divided by seven (days a week) four miles a day. “I will start it in Boracay,” said Kris who’s spending the weekend there with her kids.

Ten days before her wedding to Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad seems unruffled, never mind if invitations have yet to be sent out. She’s leaving everything to their wedding planner.
Shalani will wear an Inno Sotto gown when she marches down the aisle next Sunday, Jan. 22, at the St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove, Silang, Cavite. The reception will follow in front of a lake at the nearby Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The menu is set, specially prepared by chef Florabel Co-Yatco (of the chain of restaurants bearing her name) whose strict order is to make sure that the 900 invited guests (gate-crashers not welcome) will go home burping non-stop.
Here’s what the guests will partake:
APPETIZERS: Whole-Wheat Pandesal with Butter…Smoked Salmon and Romaine Lettuce Salad served with Herb Croutons…Parmesan Flakes and Longganisa Bits with freshly-made Caesar Dressing…Chicken Binakol Soup with Baguio Spinach…ENTRÉE: Roast US Angus Rib Eye with Soy Calamansi Sauce served with Mashed Sweet Potato and Haricot Vert…DESSERT: Queso de Bola, Cheesecake, and Suman Latik with Batangas Tsokolate.
Mouth-watering, aren’t they? Burp, burp, burp!!!

Here are two more family-oriented Christmas cards received by Funfare during the holiday season:
Above: Former Sen. Migz Zubiri and his wife Audrey with their children Adriana and Juanmi and (left) Richard Gomez and Ormoc City Rep. Lucy Torres with their daughter Juliana who’s turning 12 in September and longing to have a brother or a sister — soon? ‘I hope,’ said Lucy, keeping her fingers crossed.
