Why people shop in Greenhills

MANILA, Philippines - The Greenhills Shopping Complex is a familiar landmark in the San Juan-Mandaluyong area and a bargain mecca catering to people from all walks of life. Bargain hunters frequent its flea markets (tiangge). Personalities and VIPs also go there.

“Not only the ordinary shoppers but also famous personalities are also shopping in Greenhills,” says Albert Castro, project coordinator of Prime Asia Trade Planners & Convention Organizers (PATEPCO). “I often see here showbiz personalities, top government officials, well-known names in sport, media and business. When the Queen of Spain visited the Philippines, she was spotted in Greenhills to buy pearls incognito. Even former US ambassador Christie Kenny together with some relatives and friends from the US were seen here.”

Caridad Sanchez, Ronald Magsanoc, former Sen. Nikki Coseteng, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Julius Babao and wife Christine Bersola, historian Benito Legarda and designer Jun Ablaza also shop in Greenhills.

Castro shares people prefer Greenhills because it offers affordable goods. It is accessible and safe to shop there. 

The Greenhills is the venue of the 19th Fiesta Fair will to be held from Jan. 13 to Feb. 5.

Greenhills has a department store selling the latest local and imported brands, beauty shops, Music Museum, a food strip, a badminton court, multi-level parking spaces and business establishments.
