MANILA, Philippines - Cartoon Network creative director for the region Silas Hickey came to the country for the second time to continue his quest in finding just the right talents to kick off the dream project of “Philippine-ized” cartoon hopefully in 2012 and also to find the right Filipino studio to produce Cartoon Network’s materials.
In line with the annual Animahenasyon event, Silas drew a clearer picture of which network he wants to partner with in creating newer and more exciting shows for the year to come.
Silas told the media guests about his journey in finding the right Filipino tale to make it into a cartoon. He presented this as a challenge to the media attendees, who were also cartoon enthusiasts. He added that for a local cartoon to click, it has to be a Filipino story with touches of the modern world. A modern Ibong Adarna maybe? The guest speaker was excited and positive about the project because he had found so many talented young Filipinos with very unique ideas. During the event, there were pitches for new episodes of old cartoons like Dexter’s Lab and Samurai Jack! Wonder what’s in store for us next year?
Silas invited everyone to join in and contribute to the project by sending in their ideas to the network.
