MANILA, Philippines - The remake of a primetime TV series that aired 10 years ago is making a new wave of success. Thanks to the screen charisma of four GMA Artist Center tween stars Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin. The current showing of Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin that replaced Sinner or Saint on GMA 7’s afternoon block is enjoying good ratings because of its two young love teams collectively delivering onscreen power that no doubt generates viewers.
The 2011 version of Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin started airing on GMA 7 last Oct. 10 as it continues to draw viewers in after just a month run. Barbie plays Mylene/Katherine, Joshua is Charles, Joyce portrays Clarissa, and Kristofer acts out Jepoy. The two girls here are cousins and best friends separated by fate, with Mylene ending up suffering amnesia and Clarissa stealing her friend’s identity along the way.
A young boy’s love will be put to test and truth will have to be set free to make things right in the drama that also boasts a strong support cast led by Gardo Versoza, Sheryl Cruz, Tanya Garcia-Lapid, Matet de Leon and Ehra Madrigal.
The love teams of Barbie and Joshua and Joyce and Kristofer are part of a bunch of teenage stars who found extra success as love teams. They all belong to Kapuso Network’s Tween Academy Class of 2012.
