MANILA, Philippines - Sponge Cola releases its highly-anticipated fourth, full-length studio album under Universal Records titled Araw Oras Tagpuan. It should be noted that this is Sponge Cola’s first mainstream album since it released its self-titled CD in 2008.
Sponge Cola is composed of Ateneans Yael Yuzon on guitars and vocals; Armo Armovit on lead guitars; Gosh Dilay on bass and Tedmark Cruz on drums.
Araw Oras Tagpuan contains 12 tracks including songs from the band’s Tambay EP, which was released early this year via Coca-Cola’s summer promo.
One of the songs in Araw Oras Tagpuan is Tambay, an original song written by the band’s frontman Yael, which peaked at No. 1 on MYX Channel and various radio stations. It was also the only OPM song on Magic 89.9’s countdown for several weeks. Other tracks are Regal, which is the CD’s carrier single; Walang Wakas, which became the theme song of ABS-CBN’s series Wansapanataym: Rod Santiago’s Buhawi Jack, which starred Gerald Anderson; plus Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay, Araw Oras Tagpuan, Warning, which features drummer Tedmark on vocals; and New Steel featuring Salamin vocalist Paolo Valenciano. The CD also features guest vocals from Norma Love, Iwa Motors and MowMow.
Most of the songs were written by Yael. This is the band’s first full-length studio recording with new drummer Tedmark. Araw Oras Tagpuan is an innovative album that incorporates piano as performed by Yael, drum loops and synths while retaining the trademark sound of the pop-rock band that endeared them to fans and music aficionados.
Araw Oras Tagpuan is now available in leading record bars nationwide.
