GMA News TV reaches Australia and Guam

Joseph Francia, VP and head of operations for GMA International

MANILA, Philippines - Just a few weeks after it went on air in Australia and Guam, GMA News TV International not only delivers timely, comprehensive local news and encompassing public affairs programs from the Philippines, but it has also proven that it is the answer to the Filipinos’ clamor for an all-news Pinoy channel by the overwhelming number of positive feedback it receives from carriers and viewers in both countries.

GMA 7 further complements and strengthens its roster of Pinoy channels by recently adding GMA News TV International. It is a 24-hour channel backed by the most trusted, the most credible and the most awarded broadcast news organization in the Philippines — GMA 7’s News and Public Affairs team.

Bringing the Filipinos worldwide the news, public affairs and documentary channel that is largely broadcast in the Filipino language readily translated to positive feedback as shared by GMA International’s affiliates in Australia and Guam.

According to Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV in Australia, “GMA Network, with its three international channels GMA News TV International, GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV offers Filipinos good value, unique and high-quality Pinoy programming. We believe the addition of the GMA News TV International channel will continue to strengthen the appeal of Fetch TV to Australia’s Filipino population.”

In Guam, GMA News TV International has been consistently included in the Top 20 channels since it was first viewed on GTA’s GUdTV on July 8. “GMA News TV International is doing very well here in Guam as many of GTA’s Filipino market base have shown overwhelming interest in adding it to their channel line-up. Like GMA Pinoy TV, it’s been consistently landing a spot in the Top 20 channels due to its significant daily viewership. This only proves that GMA News TV International meets the Filipino community’s demand for programming content that’s unique from the rest,” says Karen Gayle, product and content manager of GUdTV.

According to Joseph Francia, VP and head of operations for GMA International, the warm reception to GMA News TV International affirms the network’s move to give what Filipinos abroad have all been asking for — a GMA-branded channel that is dedicated to news from the Philippines. “We are encouraged by the very positive response to GMA News TV International. Apart from Australia and Guam, we also recently launched GMA News TV International in Japan, where the channel is now on test broadcast through our affiliate Access TV. We are committed to bringing the channel to even more parts of the globe in the coming months,” he adds.
