MANILA, Philippines - A month ago, eight celebrity/blogger teams traversed various areas of the Philippines in search of some of the country’s cultural gems and posted their travel stories for PLDT’s Awesome Hunt. Then, the blogs were opened for public voting as well as for judging by a panel of influential men and women from the social scene. And now, the winners of the best travel blog have been revealed.
They are Good Times DJ Mojo Jojo and Between Bites blogger Jane Chua of Team Rizal. The two awarded during the Awesome Hunt Winners Party recently at Republiq amidst their fellow contestants and notable guests.
As the winners, Mojo Jojo and Jane each received P50,000 cash, a free one-year PLDT myDSL subscription, a Sony VAIO laptop, a Sony Cyber-shot camera, a trip for two to Dakak from Cebu Pacific, and a pizza party courtesy of Yellow Cab Pizza Co. The same prizes were also awarded to one lucky online voter.
The Awesome Hunt was created to announce the locations the telco recently installed more than 200,000 additional myDSL lines to promote faster, more stable broadband connections. Each location was represented by one team, which had to face tasks and blog about their experiences afterwards.
All the teams’ stories were uploaded on pldtwatchpad.com/awesomehunt and include the blogs of the other teams: Mark Herras and Alex Perez (Team Cavite); Dolly Anne Carvajal and IC Mendoza (Team Laguna); Steven Silva and Daiana Menezes (Team Marikina); Carlos Celdran and China Cojuangco (Team Quezon City); Jayvee Fernandez and Luis Alandy (Team Las Piñas); Marco Alcaraz and Bela Padilla (Team Butuan); and VJ Ton Vergel de Dios and Ryza Cenon (Team Dumaguete). The blogs can be viewed at pldtwatchpad.com/awesomehunt.
Online votes comprised 50 percent of the total score while the other half were made up of the points given by the judges — Mega Publishing president and CEO, and Mega Magazine EIC Sari Yap; CEO and chef of modern epicurean kitchen, Olive Magazine EIC, and The STAR columnist Stephanie Zubiri; Our Awesome Planet’s Anton Diaz; and Circuit magazine EIC JR Isaac.
PLDT also brought the celebration of the additional myDSL lines to Dumaguete’s Kabulacan Festival last May 7 and Butuan’s Balangay Festival (May 20), with awesome concerts by Gloc9 and Callalily, respectively. Its next stop is Legazpi City on June 11 where everyone will get to experience an adrenaline fix during myDSL’s trademark car drifting exhibition, Speed Circuit.
