MANILA, Philippines - It’s the veritable “Who’s Who?” in today’s fashion design scene at the ongoing Philippine Fashion Week 2011, which runs until May 15 at the SMX Pavilion of the Mall of Asia complex. Featuring Fanny Serrano (photo), Danilo Franco, Edgar Allan, Noli Hans, Rusty Lopez, Gerry Katigbak, Ronaldo Arnaldo, Edgar San Diego, Arnold Galang, Johny Abad and Salvacion Lim Higgins of Slim’s, the fashion extravaganza provides a glimpse into their creativity, technical skills and innovativeness as they display their exquisite sartorial creations of and for the season.
From the simple and minimalist to the complicated and most ornate collection, the seasoned showstoppers pave the way for the new and young designers who are beginning to make their mark on and off the ramp.
It’s a gathering of both old and new faces in the current fashion scene, as style and fashion artists join forces for a common vision to rule the runway.
On Sunday, Fanny topbills the Grand Allure Collection at the SMX Function Room 4, 1 p.m. The other designers in the collection are Albert Andrada, Martin Bautista, Jaz Cerezo, Emil Alexander-Englis, Popo Go, Gil Macaibay, Janet Pugat, Gerswin Qua, Marc Rancy and Cherry Samuya Veric.
At 60-something, Fanny continues to explore in his quest for excellence in the various facets of health, beauty and art. A total beauty expert, he navigates from complete hair care to make-up cosmetics to body-and-mind wellness, even as he scales other heights in showbiz.
Recently, Fanny bagged a Best Actor award for his performance in Neal Tan’s Tarima from Gawad Tanglaw, an award-winning body composed of certain educators from the academe. The same role also earned him nominations this year from other award-giving groups. Tarima was also cited at the Soho International Film Festival in New York.
