MANILA, Philippines - A sculpture of former Senator and now Philippine Reclamation Authority chairman Ramon Revilla Sr., done by National Artist Eduardo Castrillo, was unveiled on his 84th birthday last Tuesday, March 8, as part of the opening of the Revilla Business Park in Bacoor, Cavite.
Caviteños would fondly refer to it as ‘ang rebulto ni Agimat,’ reminiscent of the legendary amulet-carrying hero Revilla popularized in his movies.
The sculpture was commissioned by the Revilla children (bottom, surrounding Ramon Sr.) — Imus Productions boss Marlon Bautista, Bacoor Chamber of Commerce president Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, Princess Bautista-Ocampo, Sen. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr., Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla, Rizal Province First Lady Andrea Bautista-Ynares (with husband, Gov. Jun Ynares) and Diane Bautista-Paterno.
‘We want our dad to see it while he’s still alive,’ said Bong.
Also inaugurated that day was MemoRevilla gallery (below) which houses Ramon Sr.’s memorabilia (posters of his movies, pictures, trophies, costumes, etc.).
Among those present were (right, top to bottom): Regal Matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde, Sen. Loren Legarda, and Tirso Cruz III and wife Lyn Ynchausti with Precy Vitug-Ejercito (wife of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada).
