MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East, through UE’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) and College of Fine Arts (CFA), in cooperation with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts and Filipino Heritage Festival, celebrates Philippine International Arts Month 2011 this month with the theme Philippine Fiesta: A Philippine Heritage, filled with interesting program of activities.
UE kicked off the celebration with the Philippine Fiesta Exhibit last Feb. 1 at the Dalupan Main Lobby, and PeliKulay (Buklod Tribute to Philippine Cinema), a group art exhibition to be held at the Philamlife lobby, UN Ave., Ermita, Manila. Participants in the PeliKulay are Buklod members UE CFA alumni noted visual artists Ronaldo Ruiz, Richard Legaspi and Ronwell Bacani, other UE CFA alumni and students, including distinguished visual artists Angelito de Guzman, Leonardo Uy, Romano Macaisa and Maximo Balatbat.
The UE Silanganan Dance Troupe will perform in the Sayaw Pinoy 2011, on Feb. 11, 2 p.m. at UE Theater, and 3 p.m., Feb. 18, UE Caloocan.
The Philippine Opera Company will do the Harana, on Feb. 15, 2 p.m. at UE Theater.
A film showing is set for the indie movies Watawat (Flag), 10 a.m.; and Maynila, 2 p.m., Feb. 17 at UE Theater.
The UE Drama Company will stage Uyayi, Feb. 25, 2 p.m. at UE Theater, and Feb. 28, 10 a.m. at UE Caloocan. UE CFA students with their best artworks will put up their annual exhibit on Feb. 14, 10 a.m. at Tan Yan Kee (TYK) Academic Bldg. Exhibition Area, UE Caloocan.
A seminar on air brush techniques with visual artist Rommel “Kiss” Toledo as resource person will be on Feb. 17.
