MANILA, Philippines - MEGA Magazine, the Philippines’ best and pioneer fashion magazine, invades TV with the first homegrown fashion reality show, Gen M: Generation MEGA, the MEGA Young Designers Competition 2011.
Since 1994, MEGA has been on the lookout for the next best young designer in the country. Already on its ninth edition, the YDC has discovered fashion’s brightest stars and most respected luminaries. It has produced prestigious alumni including Furne One, Rajo Laurel, OJ Hofer, Mario Rotersos, Michi Calica-Sotto, Raoul Ramirez, Patrice Ramos-Diaz, Raymond Noni Diza, Edwin Ao, Hadji Godinez, Alex Pigao, LZ Punzalan, Ivarluski Aseron, Mich Dulce, Gian Romano, Ferdie Abuel, Aries Lagat, Veejay Floresca and Vanessa Ang.
Now reincarnated for TV, Generation MEGA will launch a new breed of promising fashion designers, this time for the broader viewing public.
The first episode tonight at 10 on etc. features the two-day audition to search for Gen M finalists. The event, held in Members Only, Fort Bonifacio, saw more than 100 aspirants showcasing their designs before judges, MEGA Magazine editor-in-chief Sari Yap, deputy editor Meryll Yan and permanent judges Raya Mananquil and designer Avel Bacudio.
Eighteen talented designers were chosen and will face the challenges under the theme “Proud to Be Me.”
