Hero Face Off cosplay contest kicks off

MANILA, Philippines - Not every animé enthusiast will get the chance to attend the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan next year. That’s why cosplayers are now gearing up for their dashing get-ups and witty characters, hoping to win the Hero Face Off: The Ultimate Cosplay Battle, which kicks off today, 1 p.m. at Skydome of SM City North Edsa in Quezon City.

Animé cable channel Hero TV, in cooperation with cosplay org giants Animé Alliance and Cosplay.ph, takes the cosplay act in the Philippines a notch higher and a mile further. This time, deserving Hero Face Off: The Ultimate Cosplay Battle champions will be sent to the birthplace of cosplay, Nagoya, to attend the prestigious 2011 World Cosplay Summit.

About 260 cosplayers from three categories — Kids Squad Individual, League of Heroes Group and Face Off Individual — are expected to join this battle of not just costumes but characters.

The two grand winners of Face Off Individual category will be sent in Japan with P15,000 cash prize and a Samsung F44 camcorder.

A whopping P30,000 with a Samsung F44 camcorder awaits the grand winner of the League of Heroes Group category while P10,000 with Samsung Genoa Phone awaits the first placer in the Kid Squad Individual Category. Cash prizes for the second and third placers of each of the categories will also be given.

Interested participants of the Hero TV’s biggest cosplay event of the year, sponsored by Nutri-C, Cherifer PGM 10-22, Appebon Kid and MyLac Prep, may register on-line by checking out www.myheronation.com or www.cosplay.ph. You may also register on the event from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Registration fee is P50.
