MANILA, Philippines - Mocha Uson (photo), frontliner of Mocha Girls, is holding a series of fund-raising gigs for her mother who is stricken with cancer of the breast stage three. Mocha’s mother has been confined at St. Luke’s Medical Center where she went through a series of chemo and radiation therapy.
The gigs are scheduled tonight at 9 at Mugen Bar, Metrowalk, Pasig City, and on Aug. 20, 9 p.m. at Zirkoh, Greenhills, San Juan.
Guests include Nyoy Volante, Kris Lawrence, Jay Durias of South Border, Callalily, 6Cyclemind, Baby Belle of EB Babes, Princess Ryan, Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo, Lord Brian with the Wonder Drummer Boy, and Presskong Acoustics, an environmental advocacy group led by entertainment writers Benjie Felipe and Xyruz Imperial.
The project also serves as advocacy for breast cancer led by Mocha with Mocha Girls Mae Dela Cerna and Jhane Santaguiel who just returned from their recent successful Malaysian performances.
“I see the event as time to also celebrate life even if it is supposed to lift the spirit of my mom from the dreaded disease, and to bond somehow and party a little bit with our following, friends, supporters and colleagues as well in the entertainment industry who have been with the Mocha Girls all the way,” says Mocha.
