MANILA, Philippines - Last Aug. 8 at 8 p.m., Gary and Angeli Valenciano warmly welcomed to their home in Antipolo City some family members and a circle of close friends from the biz to celebrate Gary’s birthday and the couple’s wedding anniversary. Gary’s birthday and the Valencianos’ wedding anniversary both fell on Aug. 6.
Aside from immediate family from the Pangilinan and Valenciano side, guests were industry friends from way back in the `80s. Among them are Ronnie Henares, Louie Ocampo, Freddie Santos, Jaime Godinez,Leo Martinez, Gina Valenciano and Marines Carvajal. Record Label heads Kathleen Dy-Go with husband George and Ramon Chuaying, Genesis artists Donita Rose and family, Carla Martinez with husband Mari, Jericho Rosales who arrived late with girlfriend Cesca Litton, Dr. Vicki Belo and daughter Cristalle, Gary’s colleagues from ASAP XV Christian Bautista, Eric Santos, Jed Madela, Gab Valenciano, KC Concepcion and Richard Poon were also there.
It was a fun evening where everyone got to relax and talked about current things that happened that day.
There were many stories shared, like the threatened kidnapping of Sarah Geronimo’s father at the ABS-CBN car park basement, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid’s big wedding announcment in Party Pilipinas and Mark Bautista telling us what it’s like working in GMA 7 after moving from ABS-CBN. Dr. Belo opened up about her week-long travail with the media on Charice visiting her clinic.
The mood at the Valencianos was that of caring and support. Kapamilya and Kapuso mingled with each other and re-connected in a non-working atmosphere.
Before leaving the party, I asked Gary what his birthday wish is this year. He said, “I am just so thankful for all who came and my birthday wish this year is for my heart to continue to just pour out whatever good God put in there, so I can give back more to this industry that’s given me so much.”
