One movie with two titles?
It did happen in the early ’60s.
The movie was originally titled Pitong Makasalanan, set for showing November 1962. The exhibition didn’t push through, but it finally did March 1963, albeit with a new title, Pitong Kabanalan ng Isang Makasalanan.
It seemed that the censors and moralists at that time didn’t like the original title, too negative. And the producers must have agreed.
No matter, the seven sinners were played by Paraluman, Rita Gomez, Lolita Rodriguez (all three ladies courtesy of Sampaguita Pictures), Lani Oteyza, Perla Bautista, Lilia Dizon, Cecilia Lopez.
The lead actor was Romeo Vasquez, also the film’s producer. In the original layout he was billed below the title, but got top billing in the new title. — RKC
