Mel and Joey's summer special

MANILA, Philippines - Kapuso Sunday evening celebrity talk show Mel and Joey welcomes summer with fun and entertainment plus tonight.

It is both work and leisure as the hosts Mel Tiangco and Joey de Leon, director Louie Ignacio and the MJ staff and crew take a trip to Bikolandia known for cuisine concocted with sili  (chili) and gata (coconut milk).

Top of the itinerary is Donsol in Sorsogon where lovable gentle giant whale sharks or butanding are found. Next stop is Naga, Camarines Sur where it is a must to visit a museum where religious and historical artifacts found by locals before the Spanish regime are displayed. A real dinosaur egg from the collection of Dr. Ermelo Almeda is an attraction there.

Tourists from faraway countries delight in the black sands of Bicol that they describe as unique, beautiful and soothing. Some even aver that it cures pulmonary diseases. For gourmets there is Bigg’s Diner that serve burgers, fries and popular dishes like laing and Bicol express put up by the Tres Marias – Nena Bichara, Nienie Buenaflor and Maricar Manuon.

Mel, Joey and the MJ gang visit a souvenir market where slippers, hats, placemats, garments made from local materials and pili nuts are sold.
