Out of her comfort zone

MANILA, Philippines - As the first member of Girls Aloud, Britain’s state-of-the-art Noughties pop empire to complete a solo record, Cheryl Cole is out of her comfort zone.

“The other four girls have been my cushion for almost the entire decade. We’ve all been cushions for each other,” she says.

Her debut single, Fight For This Love, has just been released.

Cheryl has no less than Black Eyed Peas hitmaker Will.I.Am as record producer for the album 3 Words. Cheryl first met Will.I.Am when she guested in a video for his single Heartbreaker.

Impressed, he offered to produce her album and even got Cheryl’s opinion on the beats and the hooks in the tracks. He even asked the surprised artist to write some hooks.

3 Words also features Heaven, which combines R&B and dance music; the alternative-R&B ballad Parachute and the title track 3 Words, which straddle an imaginary dance floor between Ibiza and South Beach.

Cheryl has this to say about going solo: “I have to think that if it doesn’t work, it’s not meant to be, but I have had the most amazing experience putting it together. I couldn’t be happier with the word that I have done on the record. I can take away happy, positive memories of this whatever happens. I’ve watched geniuses at work. I’ve worked with them,” Cheryl adds.

3 Words exclusively distributed by MCA Music, Inc. is now available at all major record bars nationwide.
