Jericho honors the working class

MANILA, Philippines - Extra Joss and Jericho Rosales open 2010 with an inspiring gesture as they awarded a total of P500,000 to three outstanding men. The prizes also include cash, Extra Joss trolley cart business, appliances and computer showcase, a business make-over package for their individual livelihood and a pension program, since the Extra Joss Gintong Kamao awardees are all self-employed.

The Gintong Kamao Awards is an annual advocacy event that pays tribute to working-class Filipino heroes. The awards motivate and inspire other working-class heroes to be an Extra Joss Gintong Kamao.

The first awardees are Fulgencio Lanuzo, a mechanic whose son has a degree in B.S. Computer Science; Danilo Matienzo, a tricycle driver whose daughter has a degree in B.S. Psychology; and Danilo Torres, a coconut vendor whose son has a degree in B.S. Computer Science. They have one thing in common: Through their hard work and perseverance at least one of their children finished college.

Through this award, Extra Joss and Jericho recognize the working-class heroes’ many struggles and sacrifices. They face the challenge of poverty by making a decent living for their families.
