DZMM Halalan 2010: Ang Bayan Muna set

MANILA, Philippines - The candidates had their chances to talk. Now it’s the people’s turn to speak.

Exactly 100 days before the May national elections, DZMM will launch its election campaign DZMM Halalan 2010 Ang Bayan Naman! with a forum that focuses not on the political candidates but on the concerns of Filipinos, voters, and even non-voters tomorrow, Jan. 30, 4 p.m. over DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo.

Dubbed the DZMM Comelec Forum, the event acquaints Filipinos from different sectors with the poll automation system and aims to address their issues related to the elections with the help of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), election law experts, teachers, IT experts, and poll watch groups.

The forum will be anchored by DZMM’s Gerry Baja, Anthony Taberna, Henry Omaga-Diaz, and Nina Corpuz and broadcast live on Saturday over DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila campus in Intramuros.

Attending the event are Comelec commissioners Greg Larrazabal, Ferdinand Rafanan, Rene Mariano, and spokesperson James Jimenez. Filipinos in other regions may also participate in the forum as DZMM Radyo Patrol reporters will be on full alert in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to relay their questions in real-time.

Citizens who have questions or concerns about the elections may tune in to Usapang de Campanilla every Wednesday for the special Halalan Helpdesk wherein lawyers Danny Concepcion and Claire Castro and Cheryl Cosim will help answer the questions sent via DZMM REACT or e-mail via dzmm630@abs-cbn.com.

The DZMM website will soon empower citizens to send photos, videos, and news stories happening in their communities and DZMM will verify the details before posting them in the website.

This is the second election-related forum organized by DZMM following the success of Usapang OFW, The DZMM Leaders’ Forum in August last year where some of the reported presidential candidates engaged in discussions.

These are just part of the new offerings of DZMM this year. DZMM recently launched CHISMAX: Chismis to the Max with Dolly Anne Carvajal and Ambet Nabus, an entertainment talk show aired every Sunday at 11 a.m., the team-up of Vic de Leon-Lima and Cheryl Cosim in Todo Balita, weekdays at 5 a.m., and Trabaho, Panalo with Jasmine Romero, Sundays at 10 a.m. on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and DZMM TeleRadyo.
