MANILA, Philippines - Eighteen schools battle at the grand finals of Crissa Teen Synergy Dance Competition Year 5 tomorrow, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
The competition is the biggest, longest-running all-girl dance tilt in the country, which gathers the best high school dance groups all over Metro Manila.
Now on its fifth year, it’s going to be a bigger and wider dance tournament among female high school students, where they get the chance to express their artistry, creativity and coordination through dancing. It also encourages them to establish friendship and camaraderie among peers.
This year, 18 schools qualified for the grand finals. The teams participated in the elimination rounds at Trinoma, Market! Market! and Robinsons Manila, and were chosen not only for their unique choreography and routines, which mix modern jazz, hip-hop, street dancing and modern ballet. The finalists also stood out for bringing Crissa’s “fashionably fun” concept to the stage, with team members accessorizing and jazzing up their Crissa outfits to express their unique styles and fashion statements and emerge as the best team with the most stylish costume.
Criteria are visual effectiveness, 10 percent; costuming effectiveness, 10 percent; variety movements, 20 percent; synchronization, 20 percent; creativity/originality, 20 percent; and showmanship/crowd appeal, 20 percent.
The winning dance team will go home with P100,000 cash prize. The group with the most stylish costume will also win a special prize from Crissa.
