MANILA, Philippines - After a long absence in the local music industry, Dessa takes centerstage tomorrow, Dec. 12, 9 p.m. in a back-to-back concert with Jimmy Bondoc. The concert titled Double-up Plus is at Metrobar, West Ave., Quezon City.
The two-and-a-half-hour concert will showcase the world’s most-requested songs that have hit the charts.
Joining Dessa and Jimmy are Sabado Boys (Luke Mejares, Top Suzara, Mike Chan, DJ Myke and Paolo Santos), Viva Hotbabe Annaleah Javier, Tyrone Perez, Bradley and The Foxy Ladies. Front Desk Entertainment Production produces the concert. Director is Jobert Sucaldito.
“We have to admit that we missed Dessa’s kind of music. Matagal kasi siyang nawala. She’s now based in Las Vegas. When she came home a few months ago, some producers didn’t let her go. Nang mapanood ko siya, eto na sabi ko sa sarili ko, hindi ako papayag na umuwi ang babaeng ito na hindi ko maipag-produce ng concert. Lalong gumanda ang boses ni Dessa. Nahasa sa gabi-gabing pagngangawa sa Las Vegas siguro. Ha! Plus the music of Jimmy Bondoc and the Sabado Boys, perfect ang tandem na ito,” says Jobert.
“I have been away for quite a time. I was supposed to be back in Las Vegas first week of December. Since this show came on Dec. 12, pinagbigyan ko na rin ang mga friends ko na gusto akong maipag-produce na rin ng shows. Sinamantala ko na lang kumbaga. February 2010 na ako uuwi. I have to go back home at baka hiwalayan na ako ng asawa ko,” says Dessa.
Double-up Plus is presented by Globe Asiatique Realty Holdings, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, Neal Gonzales and People’s General Insurance Corp. Major sponsors are Caloocan Rep. Mitch Cajayon, Vicky Cu of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, MET Tathione, Belo Essentials, Pervil Cosmetic Philippines, GRAIA Construction Corp., Quadro Frames and Myrna’s Bulalo Haus.
