MANILA, Philippines - Gov. Jade Ecleo’s birthday celebration was a memorable one. It saw the establishment of round-the-clock power in Dinagat Islands. This is not only the greatest achievement Ecleo has done for her people but a testament to her commitment of service to them as well.
Her constituents serenaded her at past midnight. Candles were lit, while the choir and different groups who took turns in singing for the governor.
The biggest surprise came when Ecleo’s eldest daughter Natasha flew in from Manila just to be with her mom. The governor broke into tears and was overjoyed at the sight of her daughter carrying a birthday cake.
The governor dedicated her birthday concert to her constituents as her way of thanking them for their unending love, support and dedication to her administration.
This year she invited Gabby Concepcion, Dingdong Avanzado, Jessa Zaragoza and Ara Mina to perform with her before more than 60,000 people. The governor rendered duets with Gabby and Dingdong, and sang with Jessa and Ara. There was also a rendition of the telenovela medley. Guest artists were joined by the governor’s brother, Mayor Benglen Ecleo.
Other special people close to the governor went on stage to greet her. Milton Ngu sang a duet with her.
Ecleo showed her dancing prowess as well. One of her numbers was a Bollywood medley where she went belly dancing.
Her finale number was Handog, hers and her constituents’ theme song, which made everyone teary-eyed.
