MANILA, Philippines - SM Prime Holdings and SM Supermalls announce the new schedule of whole-day screenings of Green Films at SM Megamall on Oct. 14 and SM Mall of Asia, Oct. 21. The screenings start at 10 a.m. The films are shown for free to students and the public.
SM launched the first ever Green Film Festival in the Philippines last Sept. 30 and screened films at the SM North Edsa cinema. Earlier schedules in Megamall and Mall of Asia had to be canceled because of inclement weather brought about by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. SM Prime Holdings is supported by the French Embassy, the Japan Foundation, Nokia and SM cinemas in this endeavor. The French Embassy contributed the film, Home, while Japan Foundation lent the film Abong. There are seven films to be screened and they have varied and diverse ways of presenting environmental protection and renewal.
Public and private schools were invited to bring their students to the designated SM cinemas so they can learn from the films. The movies are relevant as they advocate protection and care for the environment. The havoc Ondoy wrought on the lives of people was a real eye opener. The films will reinforce the urgent necessity for Filipinos to pool their efforts to educate and urge everyone to do his part in minimizing the dangers of global warming and climate change.
