The durable Mila del Sol

Of the actresses who started their careers before World War II, only a few are left: Mona Lisa, Fely Vallejo, Patricia Mijares and Mila del Sol.

This columnist chanced upon Mila in several occasions and to date she remains lively and lovely. Truly durable at 80.

Here’s an ad from the 1948 LVN movie Malaya where Mila played a mutya sa gubat (muse of the forest) opposite Teddy Benavidez.

For decades, since 1939, Mila was the queen of LVN, followed in the ‘50s by Delia Razon, Lilia Dizon, Charito Solis and Nida Blanca. Mila starred in the first LVN movie, Giliw Ko (1939), with Ely Ramos, Fleur de Lis (later Mona Lisa) and Fernando Poe Sr.

Mila del Sol is truly walang kupas.  — RKC
