Excerpts:

How did your career in entertainment begin?

It started out during a pageant when I won a modeling scholarship to modeling school. I trained for a while before being discovered and signed on by my agent. After that, I moved back to L.A. and started auditioning and working.

How were you cast as Macy?

I have been auditioning for Disney for about six years, and they were already familiar with me. So for Jonas, they called me in and I had to compete against eight other girls in front of the entire Disney network, about 30 of them. I went through a couple of scenes with the other girls before finally getting the role.

Besides being an actress, you also did gymnastics? Can you tell us a little about your sports career?

I did gym for 10 years, started out when I was three until 13. I was the national champion when I was eight and won the state championship in Georgia three times until I got injured when I was 13. That was when I told my mom that I wanted to try acting. It ended up working out pretty well!

Now that you are part of Jonas, you are starting to be loved by fans. What is your reaction to that?

It is hard because with every good comment I get, there will be one bad comment. I do love the supporters and fans, but I can’t take it too personally because they can be fickle. I can’t let positive comments get to my head and I need to remember that I am doing what I love to do. Negative comments can be mean, especially by anonymous people. But I have to brush it off and remember what is important in life. I am in this industry for the acting.

You say you want to lead your life like a normal teen in Georgia, but can you do that after being part of an international show and are more recognized by people now?

It is weird because people have different perspectives. I love hanging out with friends and even if I am on TV, I am in this business because I love to act. I am not in it for fame, it’s all superficial so I have to remember what’s important and live my life as best as I can and not take everything into account because it may all go away.

Going back to the show, can you describe the Jonas Brothers after working with them?

I would say Kevin is definitely the host, he makes everyone feel welcome and comfy. Joe is definitely the class clown, he is goofy and always making people laugh by telling random jokes and playing pranks. Nick is a huge gentleman, opening doors, pulling out chairs, very tactful.

Who among the three boys surprised you the most? Do you have any favorite among them?

I don’t have a favorite, I like all three of them. I would say that Joe surprised me the most. I didn’t realize he was gonna be so funny and goofy. I thought he was just a pretty face but he had a huge personality.

What is the funniest thing that happened to you on the set?

The ongoing joke I have with Joe that is he constantly beating me up. In one of my first scenes, Joe was supposed to pick me up by the hands and Nick, by my feet. But somehow, Joe dropped me on my head. And in another scene, he dropped a binder on my face and now I have a scar on my cheek. Hence, they joked that Joe keeps beating me up. But I am fine, really.

What is the craziest thing Macy has done on the show?

Probably when she dressed her date up as Nick when she decided to go out with him. She gave the boy a curly wig and pretended that he was Nick.

Three things a huge fan should know about the band?

If you want to hang out with the Jonas Brothers, you need to bring a ball because they love to play sports. Do your research on what type of music they like. Do not bring any drama because the boys are extremely busy. Just be fun!

Can you talk a little bit about the music on the show?

It is really fun and cool because the music is incorporated into the show. Most of the songs are catchy and upbeat and happy and a lot of people will definitely love it.

What kind of music do you usually listen to?

I listen to everything — indie rock, country and pop. I love pop and I’m a huge Britney Spears and Lady Gaga fan.

What is your favorite song on the show?

It’s called Give Love a Try, Nick wrote it. It’s an acoustic song, really romantic. Girls would swoon over Nick if they heard it.

If you’re not an actress, what would you be?

I would definitely be in the creative line of work, perhaps as a wedding planner. It is fun and I would get to choose the floral arrangement — I’ve always love weddings. Or maybe as an art teacher, I love art and anything that involves it.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Artistic, down-to-earth and loyal.

Do you have any advice for anyone who wants to have an acting career?

You have to be in it for the right reason and you can’t give up. I had to audition for five to six years before I got somewhere. There are many ups and downs but if you love it and try your best, you will get what you really want.

Who are your role models in life?

Definitely my family, they give me support. For acting, I look up to Reese Witherspoon, I really admire the career she has, and Amy Adams as well.

What would you tell Filipino fans about the show? What can they expect?

Jonas shows the different sides of the brothers. A lot of people see them as the Jonas brothers and not as actual brothers. On the show, one of them gets his heart broken and the rest helps. Being normal guys, there are lots of teasing among themselves. Fans get to see their real relationship.

When do you intend to visit the Philippines?

Hopefully next summer, whenever my schedule allows me. I would love to go to my Mom’s province in Negros Occidental and see where she grew up and lived.

Any message to your fans in the Philippines?

I hope you guys enjoy watching Jonas. We have been working very hard so I hope it can make you laugh and entertain you. Finally, thank you so much for all your support and see you soon.
