MANILA, Philippines - It aimed to invade two of the most influential forms of mass media when it merged TV and the Internet into a 45-minute program on Q-11. Now on its second season, QTube continues to do just that with new features and four sites on the world wide web.
QTube brings the latest, most useful information on the Net accessible to local TV viewers. Since then, it has become the on-air guide to the how to’s and where to’s of the virtual world.
It also “has kept viewers updated on the latest global issues and trends, newest Internet sensations, unique on-line merchandise, games and gadgets on the market, and many more,” added program manager Joy Marcelo. “With these, QTube serves as an alternative news source to the daily local news on TV.”
Aside from its weekly post on Internet basics, Marcelo recalled on-line money opportunities, Internet safety guidelines, and terminology tutorial as some of the highlights that marked the program’s first season. These, among others, were well-received by the viewers, and QTube’s Facebook account proves it.
To date, QTube has 1,812 friends on Facebook alone. Comments and messages are also posted on qtube.ph, andi&andy@blogspot.
