MANILA, Philippines - Repertory Philippines under the direction of president and CEO Baby Barredo presents the musical The Fantasticks, which tells the story of a young man and the girl next door, whose parents have built a wall to keep them apart. The youngsters nevertheless contrive to meet and fall in love.
The Fantasticks stars PJ Valero as the young man, Jake Macapagal as El Gallo and the Narrator and Julia Abueva as the girl next door.
“Fantasticks is totally different,” says PJ. “It’s about how two teenagers who discover what is really important is their love. It’s not all the other things they want to experience in life. It’s so fun that I’d get to live the life of Matt for two hours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.”
PJ is handled by Veronique del Rosario Corpus of Viva and Joey Aquino.
The Fantasticks, with book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt is based on Edmond Rostand’s Les Romanesques. It runs until July 26 at Onstage Theater, second floor Greenbelt 1.
