How showbiz destroyed Hayden Kho

Did you know that somebody with devilish designs sent Hayden Kho’s mother a “special” package last Mother’s Day with the following dedication: Hello, Mommy. Happy Mother’s Day. Hope you enjoy this tape. Watch it.

Hayden’s mom, who is a very gracious lady, watched the tape but she didn’t enjoy it. She fainted.

Yes, it was that controversial tape, three versions of which are now selling like crazy not only nationwide but abroad where there are (ehem, voyeuristic) Pinoys.

Stripped bare, with nothing left hidden (sounds like, doesn’t it?), Dr. Hayden Kho leaves perhaps even his own family wondering what got into his head that drove him to videotape his intimate moments with his alleged girlfriends, including Katrina Halili who is poised to file charges against Hayden and two other girls, one an alleged Brazilian model and the third a model/starlet who has placed the network she’s under contract with in a quandary.

You see, the girl is being launched in a soap as part of a love triangle (with two popular stars), shot mostly abroad. With the current video controversy, the network doesn’t know whether to proceed with the launch of the soap or — horrors! — reshoot the whole project abroad...maybe with somebody else replacing the poor girl? I’d like to assure the network bosses that the girl, just like Katrina and the other victims, has the public’s sympathy.

While doctors are denouncing Hayden as a “disgrace” to the medical profession and advising him to seek psychiatric help (actually, he has been under such treatment since he tried to commit suicide before Christmas last year), they should likewise do the same to Hayden’s two doctor-(ex?)friends who have reportedly uploaded the videos in the Internet. Omigosh, what havoc some doctors can wreak!

A background on how those tapes got into the Internet and, sigh, into your hands:

Before Christmas last year, Dr. Vicki Belo decided to break up with Hayden after she discovered that Hayden did have an affair with Katrina who was then an endorser of The Belo Medical Clinic. Despondent, Hayden attempted suicide by taking an overdose of mixed drugs. Assisted by Hayden’s two doctor-friends (one of whom allegedly has an axe to grind against Hayden who was suspected to have had a “fling” with the doctor-girlfriend of one of the two doctors), Vicki “raided” the Makati condo she was renting for Hayden. There, they accidentally stumbled upon the Hayden’s computer containing hot items.

Hayden, whose doctor-father is held in high esteem by his colleagues, later reconciled with Vicki, something that they continue to deny even if they are spotted together everywhere, even traveling together (having just come back from a brief trip to Tokyo). It was the reconciliation that reportedly irked “some people” to upload the “hot items” on the Internet to get back at Hayden.

Sen. Bong Revilla’s privilege speech led to the current investigation into the hot tapes and reportedly stopped the uploading of more videos, one of them featuring a sexy comedienne who has already denied any such “participation.”

So how did a young man from a good family and a good school (UST) become tagged, by Sen. Bong, as a “maniac” and a “pervert”? Honestly? It was showbiz that destroyed him. Thrust overnight into the limelight by his participation in the show Celebrity Duets, the man who claimed to be “shy” and “reclusive” (even if he was already modeling part-time) found himself surrounded by all sorts of temptations, mostly of the flesh, blinded I’m sure by the glare of the klieg lights which can either make or break a person. Sadly, it broke him.

There’s a lesson to be learned by all of us here, don’t you think?

Lea is World Vision envoy for kid sponsorship

Congratulations to Lea Salonga for having been recently acknowledged as World Vision Ambassador for Child Sponsorship. Lea used to be just one of the World Vision’s Child Sponsors, like Charice, Karen Davila, Nikki Gil, Sam Milby, Julius Babao and wife Tintin Bersola, and Sam Concepcion.

Around August last year, Lea signed up as a child sponsor for a little girl from Misamis Occidental as beneficiary with only P600 a month (equivalent to P20 a day).

“I feels good that I have joined an organization that has already proven itself to be helpful to other children,” said Lea.

You, too, can help. If interested, call 372-7777 or log on to www.world-vision.org.ph.
