Channel [V] on SkyCable

MANILA, Philippines – Makisig Network, through its president Jacque Ruby, has announced that its newly-acquired international music channel Channel [V] will now be seen on SkyCable starting May 1.

Ruby made the announcement in the midst of the frenzy of activities being undertaken at the moment in preparation for the music channel’s big launch in June. He revealed that negotiations with an international artist to come to Manila for a concert is currently underway to kick off the launch.

Ruby, who took over the presidency of Makisig Network this year, initiated and negotiated with Star TV for the acquisition of the rights to air Channel [V], the Southeast Asia’s leading music and lifestyle channel.

At the same time, Ruby, along with creative director Jose Javier Reyes, headlines the development and production of local shows providing the content of Channel [V] Philippines’ block. The first three local shows to be launched are Popcorn, Scene and Heard Philippines and Playlist.

Popcorn is easily associated with anything related to entertainment. You go to movies, watch TV, flock to a sports or concert venue, etc. and usually, popcorn would be the food staple. The show will also be dealing with anything and everything about pop culture, what is hip, trendy, new, popular, famous, and even the “corn” (like corny, cornball, hackneyed, dull) providing the viewers with a balanced discussion on what is hot and what is not in the entertainment world.

Scene and Heard Philippines is the VIP pass for the coolest happenings in the Metro — gigs, concerts and events. If one wants to be in the loop on what cool place or happening, he must find that V-Spot and would desire to be spotted where the V-Spot is.

Playlist Philippines is a 30-minute daily program that features various music videos in a mixture of genres such as rock, pop, country, rap, R&B and OPM. There will be a theme for every episode to spice up the show with the host providing trivia on the artists’ music videos and news on the artists.

“Makisig Network is honored to be given the opportunity to partner with the region’s leading music and lifestyle channel and looks forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership. We are proud to announce that Channel [V] Philippines aims to be a force to reckon with, given all the activities that we are accomplishing at this point,” said Ruby.
