The 1948 movie Carmencita Mia was billed Mexico’s gift to the Philippines as it simulated a Mexican setting. The lead stars, Carmen Rosales and Fernando Poe, wore Mexican costumes and sang Mexican songs and danced to the tunes of Mexican music.
Choreography by Don Jose Zarah, who became famous for his musical extravaganzas at Clover Theater, where such famous names as Katy de la Cruz, Bobby Gonzales, Eddie Mesa, Diomedes Maturan sang.
Carmencita Mia was some kind of casting coup as it was the first time they were paired. — RKC
