Asked why, KC explained in a letter to this writer, "We wanted to protect our happy little family. Our lives as celebrities are viewed by the public with much scrutiny. As much as possible, we would like to keep something private, something that we can call our very own. It has been three years since we got married and we think its about time we came out with it."
The two got married on Jan. 5, 2004 in a small ceremony at the Wyatts house in Seattle, Washington, USA, with only KCs parents, Cody and Cynthia Miller, Genevas father Boyet Cruz and Genevas sisters Aubrey and EJ as witnesses.
"Im happy to be married and especially since Im married to Geneva," added KC. "Shes wonderful inside and out, and if some people dont know that, maybe they should stop judging her and get to know her instead. I love my wife and forever will."
Genevas first marriage, to Paco Arespacochaga (now in the US and married for the third time), was annulled. They have a son, Heaven, 10, who is close to KC. Now in the US, Geneva will have a concert in San Diego, California, on Dec. 22. KC and Heaven will leave tomorrow night for the US and theyll spend the Christmas holidays with KCs family in Seattle.
In the letter, KC also came to the defense of his wife who got the flak for her comments (that she had a "one-night stand" with Keempee de Leon, etc.) on the Forbidden Questions portion of DJ Mo Twisters radio program Good Times (Magic 89.9, 6 to 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday).
Heres a portion of KCs letter:
First of all, if she offended anyone with her comments, she is extremely sorry. She never meant anyone any harm. She now regrets doing the show.
Mos show is done as a game and if you dont want to play the game then dont listen. The comments made by guests are only opinions and not facts. Most of the people who are criticizing the show have never even listened to it. They must have heard it only from the grapevine and not first hand which always ends up sounding worse.
I have also been told that Ive been mentioned on the show. Borgy Manotoc said that I was the most plastic person he knows. Thats fine. Honestly, does that hurt me? No. Would it hurt me if someone called me gay? No. Call me what you want, its just an opinion. Has anyone ever heard of just shrugging their shoulders and laughing it off? When I heard my name on the show I laughed and said, "Ha, ha, ha! Thats funny!"
Which now brings me to this point, Gens answers, or at least the ones being talked about. I hope that before the press people write about something, they should first check all the details.
Okay, the Keempee issue. (FYI, I was there at the radio station with Gen on that Wednesday morning.) At the time they were very good friends, best friends almost. This was seven or eight years ago, before me and Gen were even together.
I actually met Gen through Keempee and Lloyd Umali (Gens barkada at the time). Gen and I will forever be thankful to her brothers ("bros" is how shes been calling Lloyd and Keempee) for the rest of her life for that. Honestly, thats the past and it doesnt matter to me. Just as I too have a past and it doesnt matter to her...
...Now, is it true that Gen threw some flowers at some kids after buying flowers from them? No, she did not; shell never do that. She would rather throw them at my face than at those kids. I was there with her! She loves those kids! Sometimes Im not so nice to the sampaguita vendors and Gen gets mad at me. When Christmas comes around, Gen gathers Heavens old toys and hands them out to the street children. No cameras, no press, just a big heart!
