Blazin’ 105.9 brings Black Eyed Peas to Manila

Metro Manila’s flame throwing, red hot hit radio, Blazin’ 105.9 FM, brings one of today’s most sought-after R&B act, Black Eyed Peas, for a one-night concert on May 29 at the CCP Open Grounds, Pasay City.

Dubbed Island Flava, the concert celebrates the official launch of Blazin’ 105.9 FM, and what better way to usher the festivities but with top-rate R&B acts gathered in one concert. The party kicks off at 4 p.m. with some of the country’s popular bands performing in what could be the biggest front act of the year, including Rocky Rock, a Filipino turntablist from Los Angeles who performs for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez; Ms. Thang, who will be flying in all the way from Canada; Sun Valley Crew; 7 Shots of Wisdom; Reggae Mistress; Butta Flava, Pikaso; and DJs Glenn, Paul, Darrel Doughnut and Badboy Jeff.

Then at 8:30 p.m., it will be Black Eyed Peas’ turn to take center stage with soulful rendition of their original songs such as Shut Up, Hey Mama, Let’s Get Retarded, and the smash single Where Is The Love?

Blazin’ 105.9 FM is the newest and only radio station that’s been making waves in Metro Manila with its distinct style designed to capture the genre of today’s young listeners. From rock, pop, dance to hip-hop and R&B, Blazin’ 105.9 FM has been setting the airwaves aflame with Top 40 hits together with a roster of talented emcees on board providing a new and dynamic experience to its growing followers.

To mark its official debut in the FM dial, Blazin’ 105.9 FM brings together top-caliber bands in Island Flava, with the internationally renowned group Black Eyed Peas highlighting the event.

Black Eyed Peas was formed in 1998, and is composed of Apl.De.Ap, a Filipino from Angeles City; Will.I.Am, an African-American; Taboo, a Mexican-American; and the latest member, the blonde beauty Fergie, a native of Los Angeles. With such varied backgrounds, the four members of the group bring together a unique fusion of soul, funk and hip-hop that earned them rave reviews and respect in the international music scene.

From their initial album Behind The Front, released in 1998, Black Eyed Peas has conquered the Top 40 charts and even got a nomination in the American Music Awards in 2003 for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Band/Duo/Group. This year, Black Eyed Peas bagged two Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Song Collaboration for Where Is The Love? with Justin Timberlake.
