And then, I caught an episode of his last sitcom, 8 Simple Rules (for Dating My Teenage Daughter) and I felt more sad that such a well-loved and talented actor was dead so prematurely at 55.
According to the latest word from Hollywood, when Johns co-stars returned last Oct. 20 to resume shooting for more 8 Simple Rules episodes, which deals with the passing of Johns character Paul Hennessy, father of the teenage daughter in the title, the stuido was eerily silent. Everybody was missing John and crying silently. Kaley Cuoco, who plays Johns daughter, couldnt get started. Everybody was crying and hugging everybody else. According to the story, Johns dressing room has been cleaned out, all right, but his name remains on the door.
Local televiewers will have the chance to see Johns last starrer when RPN 9 premieres 8 Simple Rules tonight at 8, back-to-back with Scrubs at 8:30.
Im sure that as you laugh at John and his co-stars antics, you will at the same time shed quiet tears for the guy whom we learned to love and consider a member of the family since we first saw him in Threes Company.
Anyway, according to the sitcom, here are the eight simple rules on dating his teenage daughter:
1. Use your hands in my daughter and youll lose them later
2. You make her cry, I make you cry
3. Safe sex is a myth. Anything you try will be hazardous to your health
4. Bring her home late, theres no next date
5.Only delivery men honk. Dates ring the doorbell. Once.
6. No complaining while waiting for her. If youre bored, change my oil
7. If your pants hang off your hips, Ill gladly secure them with my staple gun
8. Dates must be in public places. You want romance? Read a book.
